The "Tesla Supercharger" Moment: My Story
A few years ago, I was starting a new construction project and wanted to see if anyone had actually built a viable, commercial-grade electric skid steer. Naturally, the first place I looked was Bobcat. They claimed they had one. But when I called to get a price and a delivery date? Ghost town. It wasn't actually being sold to independent contractors.
I dug deeper and saw headlines claiming Sunbelt Rentals bought a fleet of them. I called Sunbelt directly. Their answer? “We don’t actually have any available.” It was a wild goose chase of compliance units and paper launches.
I refused to give up, searched the global market, and discovered First Green Industries in the Czech Republic. I called their international office, and by total alignment, their US sales representative happened to live right here in San Diego with me. We had a phenomenal conversation, and he introduced me to California's CORE Program.
I missed the first funding window, which delayed my project. But a few months later, I got the call that the vouchers were back. I applied, secured the grant, and bought the machine.
Three days after my Elise was delivered, I walked into CONEXPO in Las Vegas, found the First Green booth, and started talking to a representative. It turned out he was one of the actual owners of the factory. I interviewed them for my YouTube channel, and a few weeks later, they flew me out to Prague for their massive new factory grand opening.
That trip changed everything for me. Being at that factory reminded me exactly of when I bought my first Tesla back in 2017. In those early days, when you pulled up to a Supercharger, people would actually step out of their cars just to talk to other like-minded folks who cared about technology and the environment. That’s how the First Green factory felt.
